He was bright in the sun

Formidable being that I’d make myself

Live up to his expectations

To claim it as mine

Even with sufferings, I did not admit

We sometimes chase life

To the edge of the sea

Only to discover that the trip back

Would bear no resemblance

Of the hope we’ve seen
